Sofia Margarita Vergara

Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and presenter. Vergara was America's highest-paid actor from 2013 until 2020. Vergara gained prominence hosting two television shows in Spanish for Univision in the latter half of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was Vergara's first major acting project in English. In the following years, she starred featured in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009, which received an ALMA Award nomination). In 2009, she started as Gloria Delgado in the ABC comedy series Modern Family for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.Vergara also played roles in the movies The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), Fading Gigolo (2013) Chef (2014) and Hot Pursuit (2015). Her voice-over roles included Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also in The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was also the most-paid Hollywood actress in 2020[citation requiredfor 2020[citation needed]. Vergara has been America's Got Talent judge since 2020. Vergara was raised in Barranquilla by an Roman Catholic couple. Her mother Margarita Vergara De Vergara worked as a housewife, while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as an animal rancher in the meat industry. She was nicknamed "Toti" by her five siblings and many cousins. Vergara was a dental student for three years at the National University of Colombia, however, she resigned just two years away from finishing her degree to pursue modeling opportunities and show business.
